Description

The Bakehouse Cottage has been sensitively restored using traditional materials and fittings. The original bread oven has been retained in the kitchen, but is non functional. This is a unique opportunity to stay in a traditional 17th Century Jersey farm building that has been brought up to date for 21st century living and is a proposed Site of Special Interest. It is only a ten minute walk to the beautiful South East coast, a superb stretch of coast which is one of the world's protected RAMSAR sites. This beach is wonderful and safe for swimming at high tide, rock pooling and shrimping at low tide and a bird watcher's paradise, particularly in the Autumn when there is a wealth of marine life and migrating species.

The cottage accommodates a spacious lounge/diner with exposed beams and a large open fireplace with a wood burning stove. The main bedroom, one of the twin bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs from the lounge/diner. The Creamery (where the butter used to be churned) has been converted into an entrance hall, the Snug with a small wood burning stove and a shower room with shower, basin and toilet. Upstairs from the Creamery, via a steep stairway, is the second twin bedroom with sloping wooden ceilings and views across the farm to the sea.

The accommodation enjoys modern kitchen equipment, bathroom fittings and heaters. Outside is an enclosed south facing garden with table and chairs and bar-b-q facilities. There is a second garden on the other side of the cottage. A selection of toys, books and beach equipment is provided. Children of all ages welcome.

Sorry - no smoking in the accommodation

Customer Comments

The Bakehouse in St. Clement was a wonderful location for our break. We feel very refreshed and believe the holiday was well described and at a reasonable price so we are satisfied customers who would hope to use your services again in the future. Burns family, UK.

We have all enjoyed staying in this lovely cottage.  Jersey is such a beautiful place with so many interesting and varied places and things to visit.  Thank you Penny for your warm welcome.  This is certainly a cottage to be recommended. Neale family, UK.

Lovely cottage, bigger than expected from the photos so lots of space to lounge. We baked bread in the Bakehouse, though using modern amenities, BBQ was a good plan. Explored the island by bike. Also did castles, beach, rockpools and cream tea, war tunnels and zoo - plenty to do here. Thanks for the lovely accommodation. Burrows family, UK.
