This is a unique opportunity for you and your family to stay at the exclusive Elizabeth Castle apartment. Set in a stunning and peaceful location, the apartment is ideally suited to families offering tranquility for parents and a great adventure for children. The 17th century castle is named after Elizabeth 1 and is set on an islet 15 minutes walk (at low tide) along a causeway from West Park beach, in the parish of St. Helier. A fully equipped and centrally heated apartment with spacious rooms and modern services has been created from the soldier's barracks set in the parade ground of the castle.
The islet is surrounded by sea twice a day and complimentary transport is provided to and from the islet by the castle ferry from 10.00am (from mainland) to 5.30pm. Guests are advised to arrive in Jersey in the morning to avoid missing the last crossing to the castle and avoid incurring additional costs for alternative late transport or overnight accommodation. Due to the unique location of the castle, access can be restricted by the tide and weather. The amphibious vehicles which link the castle to the mainland will operate at all times except when the tide is high and the wind is strong creating a rough sea. If the wind is stong on the day of your planned arrival, please telephone the Castle Ferry Kiosk to find out operating times.
The castle gardien (caretaker) is based on site and during the day the castle is open to the public (the black powder castle gun is still fired daily!). When the castle is closed to the public at the end of the day Freedom Holidays' clients have the keys to the main gate of the castle and the islet is theirs to explore.
Special events are very occasionally held at the castle. These could be daytime or evening, public or private functions. Please ask for more details when booking.
